The mod team at /r/diablo2 found out and removed him from mod there, but man.damage was done as a lot of users thought the /r/diablo2 mods were in on it, too. When the RMT stuff hit around about the 2nd week of May, the discord owner had tried to conceal the fact he was a mod on /r/diablo2 and was trying to play both sides. At one point the discord owner was a mod of /r/diablo2. Just the owner of the discord was shady with the mods there and the mods of /r/diablo2. In fact, I would argue jsp is about the only way you could possibly trade those kinds of finds early ladder and get their real value. A Lo in the first week of hardcore would be like 2400-3k forum gold, whereas a Lo rune now is roughly 270ish. And, those uber finds like early griffons and ber/jah/lo runes are stupid expensive early on. You still have to find items to sell them, so there is still the need for the grind. It just so happens that jsp let's me take some of them and trade them to others that are looking for things like LLD gear, pvp in general gear, leveling gear, etc. On the grind aspect, that's the whole reason I play d2.the grind.
Have you not logged into the game and seen p2pah spam and other shit site spam in the lobby? There are umpteen sites out there selling gear/runes/etc for straight cash. People who are going to RMT don't need forum gold to do it. Could you imagine if they cracked down on c-rushes and g-rushes, or power leveling in d3.both games would be dead immediately. Side note.did you know the EULA prohibits account boosting and power leveling for payment without clarifying what payment means? (iii) performing in-game services including, without limitation, account boosting or power-leveling, in exchange for payment. From that, we got the RMAH and GMAH direct from Blizzard in D3. Ironically, Blizzard tried to buy jsp back before D3's release, but the site owner never sold. Coooley made a vid a long time back where he hired a lawyer to look it over. In essence, they operate outside of the EULA.
As such, jsp is only providing a currency and not buying or selling anything that doesn't belong to them.
The loophole being that while users could, if they so chose, put real cash in, they can't get real cash back for the item, only forum gold.
